I have a 20 amp circuit provides power for my washing machine and outlets in the next room. I would add a switch and a lamp. I think about using 12 / 2 cables, but the light switch and the fire will be assessed 15 amp. Is this a problem? Is it safe? Note that the current outlets are all rated at 15 amps.
